Over the past 10 years some of the larger courier companies have become greedy and now charge upto £1.50 a mile, or more, to the required destination. This makes it far too expensive for many customers especially when you have to add VAT of 20% to all their rates.

Cambridge Same Day Delivery is different. All our drivers are self employed and do not need to register for VAT,  This gives our small business or individual customers an immediate discount of 20% compared to the major carriers.

Cambridge Same Day Delivery also took a long look at the rates we charge.  Two Major facts became apparent.  Firstly we needed to offer a cheap, but high quality service.  The only way to do this was to use very economical vehicles.  In many cases this means diesel cars that do upto 80 miles per gallon.  Contrast this with large, thirsty vans that do just 40 per gallon.

Then we looked at the hidden costs.  The late payments (over 90 days), the time spend chasing these bills and legal bills.  How can we eliminate these bad payers and increase our discounts to customers who actually want to take advantage of the discounts.  This was an easy fix. We don’t offer credit.  Payment for all deliveries is to be in advance.  Customers gain in the long term by paying upto 40% less just because they don’t ask for credit.  Now think of a same day delivery from Cambridge to Liverpool.  According to Google maps this would be 192 miles.  We would charge 88p per mile and a total of £168.96.  Our Competitors offering you 30 days credit would offer you 1.20 per mile a cost of £230.40 PLUS VAT = a total of £276.48.  A massive difference of £107.52.
